The study of coping strategies and the influence of the same level of work-related stress and quality of life of healthcare professionals increasingly deserves our attention, since these professionals are exposed to more pressure, stress and nowadays witnessing an increase in the number of cases of burnout in these professionals. In this sense, this research aims to understand how coping strategies are associated with the perception of work-related stress and quality of life of formal caregivers of institutionalized elderly. For this, we outlined a quantitative research, correlational and between subjects. The sample was represented by 42 participants with average of 43,98, and (dp 10,10).. The instruments used for data collection were the factors Stress Inventory, the Ways of Coping Questionnaire and the WHO Quality of Life. The results show that health professionals have a low perception of occupational stress, more direct strategies than suppression and a high quality of life in all domains (physical, psychological, social and environmental relations). In addition, significant positive associations of moderate intensity were found between direct strategies and the physical and psychological domains and between the use of strategies to cope with workstress and environmental field. At least, through this study we can realize which coping strategies that help these professionals to have a better quality of life, and in this case, as future psychologists our mission is to teach other professionals how to deal with stress.
