Abstract

This report is the result of a learning process, reflection, acquisition of competences following the long path of the Nursing Master. This document reports the activities in each of modules of practical training having in mind the objectives defined in the initial project and acquired competencies. The methodology used for this report includes detailed and critical reflection of the practice, based on the opinion of several authors considered along the learning period to support the options taken. We perform analyzes and justified our objectives, from detected problems, proposed and adopted strategies. We elected the fields of quality, security of care, communication and health education. Health education was always a main concern; it was given emphasis and encouragement to the nurse team on the behalf of promoting the health project of the patient with asthma. Communication is a fundamental skill on the health care, the patient inability to speak can compromise quality and security. The utilization of the Augmentative and Alternative Communication tools in the Intensive Care Unit helps surpassing those obstacles. Infection control is a main key in the health care quality and security, it was a main concern during practical training, and attention was paid on stoking conditions and handling of disinfected, sterilized medical devices and Individual Protection Equipment. The health care quality and security also concerns risk evaluation in negative ability to swallow on hospitalized patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Promotion was emphasized on in-service education at different fields, as a specialist nurse profile attribute acquired during practical training, because it boosts professional development plus it improves quality achieving the goal of excellence in nursing care. Develop and deep medical-surgical skills as specialist nurse was the aim reached during this journey.
