Abstract

During my two years in the UCP's Master of Cinema: School of Arts, I produced and directed a documentary film entitled Sónia, in which I follow the life of a high competition athlete in the sport of Badminton who, during her journey to qualify for the Olympic Games, is surprised by an unexpected pregnancy that ends up changing her life. Undertaking this project was a fundamental experience in my studies, as it allowed me to sediment, by putting to the test, a particular interest in documentary filmmaking, especially with regard to production, directing, sound and image post-production, fields that I invested in my academic and professional path, in order to develop specialized skills. This report also exposes the work I performed in the context of my curricular internship at Canal180, which ran from November 2020 to May 2021. Being an independent Portuguese channel, entirely dedicated to culture, a platform for dissemination of events related to all kinds of arts, Portuguese or foreign, during these six months of professional internship, I could participate in numerous productions, performing various functions in the field of post-production, production and editorial work. This report is therefore divided into three chapters, the first one focusing on the production process of the documentary film Sonia, the second on my internship experience at Canal180 and finally a third one which is a short reflection on my post-production experience during this journey.
