The present thesis work is based on the analysis of the (re)conciliation between work and personal life. Specifically, and assuming that the theme reflects a real problem, a study was carried out with a double aim. First, understanding whether concerns about reconciling work and personal and family life have influenced career choices during the transition to work. Then, which other factors influenced the choice. The theme of conciliation has been mainly developed since the 1980s becoming soon an established transdisciplinary area of research. Since in addition to significantly affecting the lives of many individuals, it can also influence individuals' attitudes and performance at work. If the theme development was originally related to changes due to the women integration into the working population, it currently concerns both genders. However, the reconciliation policies that companies and states have implemented are often associated with more general steps in gender equality area. This is mainly because family responsibilities are still unevenly distributed. Women in general, accumulate domestic work with wage labour. If the theme is established in the literature, more recently has included the younger generations. In other words, more recently there have been studies that scrutinize to which extent concerns with conciliation between work life balance influence choices in the transition from university to the labor market. In this context, this is an exploratory study targetting young graduates in the area of economics. The study used qualitative methods of collecting and processing information, namely interviews and life stories. It revealed that the matters of conciliation did not affect the choices of the young people interviewed in the transitory phase to the labour market. They were interested in consolidating the professional situation, considering that later it would be easier to reconcile work and personal and family life. The result of this study may possibly reflect the training area of the interviewees. Future investigations should therefore include graduates in other areas.
