Refletir sobre a prática para melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados

Abstract

The present report is about a Master’s degree in Nursing, with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, which evidence the main contributes to the internship modules, for the development of specialized competences on medical surgery nursing. The internship took place in the national institute of medical emergency, in the intensive care service and in the urgency care service of Pedro Hispano Hospital, between March 2nd 2016 and January 13th 2017. The main goal of this document is to describe learning experiences, to show the acquire skills, to reflect and analyze the activities on which I was involved, to describe improve situations that I witness, passable of being solved, and its respective strategies solutions, having in sight the enhancement of quality and safety of given nursery care. This document can also be used as an evaluation tool. The methodology used is the descriptive, analytical and critical reflexive method. Structurally is divided in four chapters. In the introduction part it is made a scratch of the report, the internship and its goals; in the second chapter, it is made a brief description of the characteristic of the different places of the internship and a exhibition and a reflexive analyses of the activities, looking to achieve the outlined goals and common competences of specialized nurse established by «Order of Nurses». Finally, at the conclusion I try to underline the professional development based on the acquired skills. In the professional, ethical and legal responsibility domain, I describe and analyze situations that approach the respect for the privacy and intimacy of a hill person, the duty of professional confidentiality, the duty to inform, a person right to inform consent, the presumed consent and a person right to life. In the domain of continued improvement quality are valued activities that improve the quality and safety of care and also are identify opportunities of improvement and presented resolution strategies concerning infection control, information systems and work methodologies. In the matter of care management, I highlight the collaboration and interest on understanding the hole process of managing a service and ultimately in the development of professional learning are presented all the activities related to the development of communication skills and the hole process of professional and self knowledge, as well as the attempt to show the ability to react towards unpredictable and complex situations. As a contribute to the practice context and after identifying training needs, two workshop sessions were planned and executed and evaluated - one entitled «The spirituality in nursing intensive care» directed to nurses from intensive medicine care and a second one about «Central Venous Catheter Totally Implanted» for nurses from UR service. An intervention project about aerial line obstruction, regarding the pre hospital assistance, was planned and put to practice in some retirement homes of Oporto city. Throughout this internship, some acting strategies were put to action, which promoted the learning of specific skills and allowed the practice of personalized and human nurse care, as well as, a reflective thinking and a critical awareness as a way to develop an even more proficient practice of nurse care and based on scientific evidence.
