Tuberculosis is a communicable disease and represents an important public health problem, being one of the main causes of death worldwide. However, in the European Union there has been a decrease in cases in recent years and in Portugal the trend is similar, case notifications tend to decrease. In the context of the Public Health Unit, early identification and initiation of treatment of infectious tuberculosis cases is paramount. And the need for information in this context, becomes increasingly important on the part of nurses, in order to develop solutions capable of promoting decision-making and continuity of care. The community intervention project took place in a Public Health Unit, using the Health Planning methodology of Tavares (1990), covering its stages, from the diagnosis of the situation to the last stage, the evaluation. It was jointly guided by the Nola Pender Health Promotion Model. The diagnosis of the situation through the implementation of questionnaires and the use of a SWOT analysis tool, allowed reaching the nursing diagnoses. In turn, the diagnoses were prioritized using the analysis grid method, resulting in the most appropriate objectives and strategies for them. The activities developed allowed the Unit's Nurses to acquire more knowledge and tools to record the care provided. In the evaluation, it was observed that the proposed goals were achieved. The project also allowed the development of skills as a master and specialist in community health and public health nursing.
