Abstract

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is an autoimune disease, which affects the body, impairing many aspects of patient’s daily lives. According to literature, the disease affects patient’s quality of life, increasing anxiety levels and causing depression, stress and fatigue. Therefore, the overall goal is to verify how fatigue, depression, anxiety and stress affect the quality of life for patients. Another objective is to evaluate which of these variables (predictors) have greater negative weight on quality of life of patients with lupus. This is a quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional study within a sample of fifty Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patients, members of the “Associação de Doentes com Lupus”. From the results obtained it is possible to verify that there are significant correlations between the scales under study, showing that fatigue affects quality of life for patients as well as increases anxiety, depression and stress. Is ascertained that depression is the predictor variable with greater negative weight on the quality of life of the patients. It is hoped that this research is a contribution level of knowledge in the area of health, regarding the impact that systemic lupus erythematosus has in the quality quality of life of the patients.
