Introduction: Traditional dating abuse and cyber abuse are a growing social problem,given their relationship with the increase in depression and suicidal ideation. Objective:To explore the relationship between traditional abuse and cyber abuse in dating and their relationship with depression and suicidal ideation in young people. Method: The sample consisted of young Portuguese people aged between 18 and 25, who complete da Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Questionnaire on Cyber Abuse in Dating, the Inventory of Conflicts in Adolescent Dating Relationships, the Clinical Assessment of Depression Inventory and the Questionnaire of Suicidal Behaviors – Revised. Results:A significant correlation was found between traditional abuse and cyber abuse, between traditional abuse, depression and suicidal ideation, and between cyber abuse and depression. No correlation was found between cyber abuse and suicidal ideation. Therewere also differences between the sexes regarding victimization by direct aggression, the use of abusive and positive conflict resolution strategies by the partner. There was also a higher reported of traditional emotional abuse. In addition, males were the ones who most reported acts of partner violence. Most subjects were victims of cyber abuse,but also a perpetrator. There are no differences according to sex in depression and suicidal ideation. However, most subjects in the sample also do not show indicators of depression or suicidal ideation. Finally, there was a correlation between witnessing violence in the family context and the use of abusive conflict strategies.
