Relação entre características das equipas autogeridas e perceção de eficácia na prestação de cuidados de saúde

Abstract

Companies face nowadays a context known to be volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. This context induces the necessity of changing the organizational structure of some companies, that give now more relevance to the company’s agility, as this concept is related to the anticipation of changes in the environment and the capability to quickly answer to those external alterations.The health sector operates in a very complex and uncertain environment, taking into account that it is directly affected by several variables. Several studies identified certain factors which increase the quality of the healthcare services provided, curiously, some of those factors are part of and are enhanced in self-managed teams.This study analyzed the prevalence, in teams composed by health professionals, of behaviors associated with the characteristics of self-managed teams, namely: adaptability, patient-centered processes, shared responsibility, and continuous improvement. A second goal of this paper was to verify whether the presence of these characteristics significantly impacts the perception of effectiveness in healthcare services.Based on the application of the two questionnaires, it was found that the health professionals belonging to the sample of this study, partially agree with the presence of the following characteristics during their professional practice: adaptability, patient-centered processes, and shared responsibility. It was also possible to verify that, for the sample of this study, the following characteristics: patient-centered processes, shared responsibility and continuous improvement are relevant to the perception of effectiveness in healthcare services, which should be promoted in teams composed by health professionals.
