The problems associated with environmental and social sustainability are an undeniable reality today. It is no longer possible to hide them, let alone ignore them. The current economic model, that is, the linear system, is exhausted due to its inability to respond to the challenges facing humanity. The emergence of a new paradigm - the circular economy - is essential for overcoming these global-scale obstacles. This study seeks to determine how social solidarity organizations, whose objective is to provide food assistance to people in need, are using systemic thinking contributing, thus, to the consolidation of the circular economy, and consequently, to the sustainable management of resources, particularly in the food supply chain. The brief exploration conducted in this context indicates a strong connection between the circular economy and social economy organizations with this social purpose. In other words, we can say that the latter constitute an essential pillar of the circular economy.
