In this dissertation, we intend to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence (IE) and wellbeing (BE) in the profession of teachers, through engagement in work. This is a quantitative study in which a sample of 170 secondary school teachers who answered the questionnaire about the relationship between IE and BE in the work context was considered, based on the emotional intelligence scales (Rego & Fernandes, 2001) and engagement (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003 cit in Schaufeli, Bakker & Salanova, 2006). Subsequently, the collected data was analyzed through the Pearson correlation, from the statistical program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results obtained showed that IE is positively related to engagement. Therefore, we can conclude that IE is positively related to Wellbeing, since work involvement is considered to be a positive state of BE (Bakker, Schaufeli, Leiter & Taris, 2008).
