This study aimed to explore the relationship between psychological well-being, life satisfaction, and the quality of social responses among institutionalized older adults. A quantitative, correlational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted, involving a sample of 70 participants of both genders, all aged over 65 and without cognitive deficits, residing in the Northern region of Portugal. Data collection was carried out using four instruments: a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the General Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire - short version, and a questionnaire developed by the research team to assess the quality of responses from Elderly Residential Care Facilities. The results indicated that individuals with lower levels of education and those institutionalized by their own initiative showed higher levels of psychological well-being and life satisfaction, respectively. Additionally, an association was found between the distance from their previous 6 residence and psychological well-being levels, with lower psychological well-being levels observed in individuals living farther away. The findings suggest that the quality of social responses directly influences the life satisfaction of institutionalized individuals, highlighting the importance of interventions aimed at promoting well-being in care facilities. These results can guide policies and social practices aimed at improving the quality of life for institutionalized older adults.
