Abstract

Currently, psychological trauma is defined as something that overwhelms the individual from an emotional and cognitive perspective, affecting their ability to function, cope and communicate. Psychological trauma encompasses three main components: an unexpected traumatic experience; the individual's lack of preparation to deal with the traumatic experience; and the individual's inability to do anything to prevent the traumatic experience from happening. This study focuses on the relationship between trauma, body awareness and marital satisfaction among victims and non-victims of trauma history. In addition, the differences between victims with a history of trauma and non-victims will be analyzed in terms of the psychosocial variables under study. This is a cross-sectional study with a convenience sample of 124 individuals, 64 of whom are trauma victims recruited by the NIAVE (Center for Investigation and Support of Specific Victims) of the National Republican Guard and 60 of whom are non-victims. The instruments used will be a sociodemographic questionnaire (QSD-C), Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), Life Events Checklist for DSM-5 (LEC-5), Scale for the Assessment of Satisfaction in Areas of Marital Life (EASAVIC), Body Perception Questionnaire (BPQ). The results show that there are differences between victims who have suffered a history of trauma and non-victims who have not suffered a history of trauma.
