This research investigates the leader-employee relations in the professional performence of a large media organization, focusing on Emotional Inteligence (EI) particularly its components such as self conscience, self regulation, motivation and empathy. The current investigation is based on relevant theoretical corpus in the areas of Organizational Culture, Organizational Comunication and Emotional Intelligence (EI). The fieldwork took place in the RTP – Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, SA. Company and relied on a sample of 9 employees from 3 different Departments. This study was based on participant observation over the four-month internship accomplished by the investigator, as well as semi-structured interviews conducted with 9 employees. The results of this study show that the relationships between leader and employees are possible to be examined in the light of Emotional Inteligence and its components and its variation can be justified by the level of EI that the professionals present. However there were not any significant associations between EI and the level of professional performence presented in the company.
