Abstract

Within the course of Post-Graduate Specialization in Medical Surgical Nursing, comes the need for a probation report. Stage corresponded to a total of 750h of work and is divided into three modules, with the guidance of the Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical, Master in Management of Health Services, Jorge Melo. Held in three different periods: Module I - Emergency Service, Hospital Privado Porto, coached by Mr. Nurse Duarte Moreira; Module II - Coronary Intensive Care Unit, Hospital S. Teotónio EPE Viseu, guided by Ms. Nurses Filomena Silva and Maria Elisa Cruz; Module III - Operating Room of the Hospital S. Teotónio Viseu, guided by Ms. Ana Laceiras Nurse Specialist. In each of the different modules were determined some personal goals. In Module I (ER) demonstrated ability to organize and articulate against intervention to be made, identified and established priorities for assistance in providing care, I collaborated in different areas of emergency service and recognition of emergency situations. Module II (Coronary Intensive Care Unit), developed specific skills relating to care of the patient with cardiac disease. In Module III (Operating Room), demonstrated ability to work properly, the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary team. The stage as a whole, brought a profound vision of the organization and operation of an Emergency Department as well as the particular and specific professional performance at the level of urgency / emergency, an acquisition and deepening relation to heart disease and a recognition of a reality different stages of organizational work, to perform surgery. The capacities of autonomy, leadership, adapting to new situations, learning, practical application of theoretical knowledge and the implementation of planning and work management for service, personal and professional skills were truly met. After completing this report, was noticed a very positive development, which magnified my knowledge and performance before new and complex situations addressed to Critical Patient.
