This report aims to highlight the learning I took during the initiation to supervised teaching practice, in the area of specialization of Instrumental and Vocal Practice: Percussion, as well as the realization of the Pedagogical Intervention Project (PIP), under the theme “Percussion Ensemble – a collaborative learning proposal in the specialized artistic teaching of the percussion instrument”, both held at the Guimarães Conservatory(CG), during 2016/17, of the Master’s in Music Teaching, at the School of Arts, from the Portuguese Catholic University - Católica Porto. The research applied to the conception, implementation and evaluation of the Pedagogical Intervention Project (PIP), intended to alert to the benefits arising from an instrumental group practice, using the instruments that students learn and experience in individual instrument classes. The identification of the problem and the consequent choice of theme, was due to the lack of instrumental group practice, as in the Guimarães Conservatory, the only collective work experience is done in the Choir discipline. By creating a Percussion Ensemble, working collaboratively with the pedagogies of Dalcroze, Suzuki and Kodály, where students were able to fully use and enhance their learning, it showed to have a very positive impact on the development of their musical, motivational, social and interpersonal skills, in sharing and experiencing Music, helping them to overcome the difficulties and challenges that were posed to them during the intervention project, also promoting their autonomy and strengthening the bonds of group friendship.
