Abstract

This clinical activity report arises within the Master in Dental Medicine, whose
study plan comprises two components, one theoretical and one practical. The practical
component consists in performing clinical procedures in different disciplines, at the
University Clinic of the Catholic University, with the purpose of the acquisition and
development of technical and scientific skills necessary for the practice of dentistry, as
well as development of relationship physician (student)/ patient also critical to the
effectiveness of each treatment.
The clinical activity report describes the work done by a critical reflection of the
general and specific objectives of each discipline, and gives visibility to the developed
clinical procedures, reporting situations/problems encountered in the course of acts,
referring to strategies and protocols used for their resolution and describes the
competencies that have been acquired.
The methodology of this study is based on a descriptive and analytical method
by assessing patients in different disciplines in the University Clinic, the exposure of
different acts performed, classifying them according to a pathology and treatment that
was carried out.
This is how Dental Medicine should be from my clinical point of view with the
difficulties I meet and/or hope to find – now as a student, and in the future as a
professional in a medical field that requires rigor and commitment - and how to
overcome them.
It is to emphasize the importance of clinical activity because it puts us in contact
with patients in a clinical setting, allowing us to acquire, and integrate more effectively
and consistently, the knowledge gained throughout the course and are essential to the
formation the Dentist.
Thus, this report aims to describe clinical activity and analyze the competencies
developed during college, as well as reflect on the practice of dentistry as a student and
their impact on my future role as a dentist.
