Abstract

This clinical activity report arises within the Master of Dental Medicine which is composed by a theoretical component and a practical component. The clinical activity, accomplished at the University Clinic of Portuguese Catholic University in Viseu, has as main objectives the development of technical and scientific skills and relational competence between the dentist and the patient, enabling the provision of an adequate health care to obtain physical, psychological and mental well - being of the patient.The methodology chosen for the production of this report is based on the evaluation of patients treated in the University Clinic and the quantitative and qualitative analysis of all clinical work through the layout of the clinical actions performed for each subject, classified according to the type of pathology and treatment performed. This work describes both the clinical performed and the critical reflections of situations and problems observed throughout the clinical activity. It evaluates all the knowledge acquired, particularly, its application to clinical practice.Furthermore, I will reflect about my perspective of Dentistry according to the situations and difficulties that I encounter during my clinical practice as a student but also my expectations for the rest of my career as a future dentist.The specificity of the learning process throughout these five years of university studies allowed me to obtain knowledge and skills essential for my training as future dentist. The acquisition of certain qualities throughout the course such as autonomy, perseverance, confidence, sense of responsibility and ability to communicate with the patient is essential to become a good health care professional
