Abstract

This report pretends to describe the stage performed under the Master's Degree in Nursing and Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Catholic University of Portugal, which took place in three locations, including PICU and ER General HF.EPE and the Operating Room of Hospital da Luz. This report also aims to reflect critically on the activities, as well as on the acquisition and development of scientific expertise, technical, relational and human specialized in the area of Medical-Surgical Nursing. In terms of structure, it was first briefly characterize the three places of Clinical Teaching, then, presented the goals that were intended to achieve and describes the activities carried out during the clinical stage, most recently, reflected on the opportunities learning that contributed to the acquisition of skills in the care of the person in critical condition and his family. How to Stage a possible two-way learning, were also referred to the contributions left by the trainee at the sites of the Clinical Teaching, namely: an Intervention Project in Clinical Risk Management, a poster, Rules of Procedure, Actions Training, updating and Guidelines organization of a seminar of Nursing. The Clinical Teaching was an added value to the intern, in that enabled him to achieve a clinical practice specializing in accordance with the values and beliefs significant to the person and the family. Furthermore, contact with different social and cultural realities during their clinical practice, allowed an effective personal and professional enrichment. Finally, it should be noted that the trainee has always sought to take a leading role in developing and supporting strategic initiatives that would lead to meeting the needs of the person in critical condition.
