Abstract

This report emerges in the scope of the Master's degree in Nursing in the Area of Specialization of Child and Pediatric Health Nursing, taught at the Institute of Health Sciences (Oporto Pole) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, having been developed in the course of the Curricular Unit 'Final Internship and Report'.In the development of the document, the competencies acquired in the context of final stage, in accordance with those defined in the study plan, are presented gathered in four areas of activity: domain of professional responsibility, ethics and legal; mastery of continuous quality improvement; mastery of care management; mastery of the development of professional learning. The primary objective of this report is related to description and reflexive analysis about the learning path trodden along the internship component, combining bibliographic research, with the purpose of demonstrating the competencies achieved in the different areas of activity, namely communication, parenting, care partnership, development-centered care, among others.The provision of care in situations of special complexity, the development of a discourse based on the decision-making based on the capacity for reflection, allied to the constant search for the increase of a practice based on the most current scientific evidence, contributed to the acquisition of competencies of Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing.
