In contrast to a mechanistic view of nursing that cares according to a traditional approach without attend to the Person as a whole, bigger and different than one of his parts, there is currently another view, more humanistic, according to which a Person should be seen as an indivisible whole inserted in a family and a community. In this context, the interaction that occurs between the Nurse, the Person and Family takes a particular highlight. This report fits in the final stage of the Masters Course of Professional Nature of Medical- Surgical Nursing, ministered by the Institute of Health Sciences, of Portuguese Catholic University, and aimed to describe, analyze and reflect on the skills acquired and / or developed throughout this course as well as reveal their major contributions to an advanced nursing care. The communication with the Family and Person, which is a essential variable in nursing care, was the guiding line of the clinical practice project and the cornerstone of care practice, assuming a major challenge on this journey. The detection of intervention needs in this area, lead us to develop two studies about "Communicating with the person in critical condition and family" and "Communication of Bad News.
