The purpose of this report is to digest all the work developed during the internship for the attainment of the master's degree in scope of the 3rd course of in Child Health and Pediatric Nursing from Instituto de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Católica Portuguesa. The accomplishment of this course allowed a reinforcement of theoretical and practical knowledge contributing for the acquisition and development of skills in order to provide specialized care focused on children and family. The internship took place only in an hospital context, which has allowed the experience of different realities of child and family care in cases of acute and chronic diseases. Considering hospitalization as a time of crisis, this work put special emphasis to the transition processes inherent to hospitalization, to comfort and family and child-centered care based on a therapeutic relationship. Taking into account the specific objectives proposed for each care context, the developed activities and the critical and reflective systematic analysis of the experiences based on scientific evidence, this work intended to highlight the skills recommended by the course syllabus, grouping them in four areas of activity: care, management, instruction and research. The acquisition, development and maturation of skills had its beginnings in the author's professional activity, which has allowed her the accreditation of "Module I - Child Health". This module was also a target of reflection in this document. All the experiences in the different care contexts contributed for the development and acquisition of new skills and maturation of others, contributing for the personal and professional development of the author.
