Abstract

Nursing progress notes evolution at their training base, at the complexity and dignity of their professional practice, which makes it imperative to recognize the significant value as the nurse’s role in the scientific community of health and regarding the quality and effectiveness of provision health care. The Specialization in Child Health Nursing and Pediatrics specifically targets the acquisition, development and integration of knowledge for advanced nursing care to newborns, children and adolescents, particularly directed to the promotion of development and adaptation to the processes of health and illness, revealing a greater ownership, by specialist nurses with a concept of care supported by a scientific conceptualization of care, then we can infer the contribution of best practice in health care in this context development is part of this report. The course includes both theoretical and a practical stage, which incorporates 3 practical modules. The internship in the Department of Inpatient Pediatrics, no Centro Hospitalar de Entre Douro e Vouga, EPE – Hospital S. Sebastião, corresponds to Module II - Medical and Surgical Service in settings of acute and chronic, held from April 19 to June 19 of 2010. The internship in the Emergency Pediatric Service and Neonatology Service, no Centro Hospitalar de Entre Douro e Vouga, EPE – Hospital S. Sebastião, corresponds to Module III, held from 04 October to 26 November 2010. The stage in the Local Health Unit of Matosinhos, EPE – USF – Horizonte, corresponds to Module I - Child Health, and held from 29 of November of 2010 to 29 of January of 2011. This report had a principle that would be a personalized learning plan, and rich in context, the result of reflections, containing documentation organized, gathering their input in the acquisition of skills as Nurse Specialist. The methodology used was descriptive in order to get a better exposure and understanding. For perception of the relationship between my practice and my development, it conceived the report frame looking for to fit the context of health care, with an approach with an emphasis on the experienced reality. In this evolving path to a growing practice based in nursing theory and incorporating the models on display models in use, to an "Advanced Nursing", with more powers for the performance centered on a conceptual logic, with the core diagnosis and assistance in the face of human responses and more powers of decision making. The course and stage allow me to conclude that the nurse can play an important role in promoting research in the evolution of knowledge and motivation to improve the quality of care among other peers, are nurses, doctors or other professionals.
