Module III,an optional training course, was developed in the areas of Pre-HospitalisationAssistance (INEM-Delegação do Centro) and Surgical procedure Nursing (SurgeryRoom of Hospital Distrital de Pombal), in January and February 2009.The main goal defined for this training course was the improvement of scientific, technical and interpersonal skills, connecting practice to critical reflection, aiming toprovide the best assistance to the critical patient and his/her family. Therefore, this wasan opportunity to expand and broaden those skills as a future qualified nurse inMedical-Surgical Nursing, in order to ensure continuity, enrich and complement mycareer path, both personally and professionally. My intervention ranged all the phases of the process that constitute the course of acritical patient, specifically his/her stabilisation and transportation in pre-hospitalisationenvironment, his/her approach in the context of Emergency Room and the maintenanceof his/her balance when admitted into the Intensive Care Unit. This experience allowedme to acquire skills of dexterity, planning and decision-making, permitting a highlysignificant enrichment of the capacity of thinking and defining priorities when facingcomplex and unexpected situations. Furthermore, it contributed to the involvement andawareness of multidisciplinary teams in regard to the importance of optimising theirperformance.
