Abstract

The present report has been done according as a requirement placed by the Nursing Mastery Course in the Medical and Surgical Nursing Specialization area and intends to describe, analyse and think about the activities developed throughout the internships I have done. It intends to do a description, analysis and a reflection regarding the activities that were developed through the different internships. This report has three modules: Module I – SUG, focused on care of medium and high risk critical patients needs, the reception of the patient at the health care institution, communication with patients and their relatives, and also training in service. Module II – ICU – credited by The Scientific Council ICS/ESPS according to article 45° of the Portuguese Law 74/2006. Module III – (optional) – Palliative Care Unit – focused on care of terminal illness patients their evaluation and symptomatic control, communication with patients and their relatives as well as support to their families. The objectives of this report are: The description, analysis and reflection regarding the end points drawn in the internship project; The description of activities/developed strategies, implementations put into practice; The description of detected situation-problems; The justification of the importance regarding all the activities that were done as well as the demonstration of acquired competences. It also pin-points the knowledge, reflections, justified analysis and evaluations done during this project, which are essential, having in consideration the gains in health mainly focused in person/family.
