Abstract

This Report describes the paths followed in different stage modules, towards the acquirement of skills in the specialization field of Mental Health and Psychiatry Nursing. The stage was developed in three modules (I, II and III) that took place between 19th April and 19th June 2010, 6th October and 27th November 2010 and 29th November 2010 and 31th January 2011, respectively in the Health Center of Castro Daire, Department of Psychiatry of HSTV and Coimbra’s Detoxification Unit of IDT. Many practical activities were developed in different fields of Mental Health and Psychiatry Nursing, reflecting the diversity and the multiplicity of fields in which it was necessary to deepen and develop knowledge and skills. Among the developed activities, emphasize those ones that allowed the development of skills in Specialization in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing area of operation, mainly the intervention on School Health, the reduction of risk behaviors of drug-using population, the health education meetings for users admitted into the Psychiatry Department of HSTV, and the planning interventions among providers of informal care/ family.
