Abstract

The modern nursing begins with Florence Nightingale, as a discipline marked by great currents of thought. The paradigm of transformation by its contribution of openness to the world stands out as it becomes necessary to understand the processes, problems and situations of people in all stages of life and a world that is constantly evolving. In this sense, and to meet customer needs, nurses must invest in training, skills acquisition and development of specialized clinics. In this report, we present a reflective analysis of the three modules of training, implemented under the Master's Degree in Nursing - Specialization: Medical-Surgical Nursing, conducted in three periods and three separate units, namely, Emergency Service and Service Intensive Care Medicine of Hospital de Santa Maria (Lisbon Hospital Centre North) and Palliative Care Unit of the Hospital da Luz, based on the skills developed as a nurse specialist in medical-surgical nursing. Since, the nurses, to be awake for multiple dimensions of nursing care, will still be exposed to a theme developed over the three modules, namely "nursing care to the client in need of noninvasive ventilation and your family." This decision supports on the assumption that it is now recognized that noninvasive ventilation for its many specificities can be assumed as an important transition in the life of the client and his family and a great challenge for nursing practice.
