Abstract

This report is done in the sphere of the Master’s degree in Nursing of Professional Nature in the specialization area of Medical-surgery nursing, of the Institute of Health Sciences of Portuguese Catholic University, with the point of review the realized course along the different training subjects: Intensive Cares Unity – Fernando’s Fonseca Hospital, EPE; Palliative Cares Unity – Idanha’s Health House – S. Bento Menni Unity and General Emergency Service – Cascais’s Hospital, Dr. José de Almeida. At different training moments I had the opportunity do acquire and develop skills on the critical or more complex client and their family care. During this course was defined an intervention on the level of a specific area, that had to be transversal to all those training subjects and primordial to the development of feature skills and knowledge from a specialized nurse in the area of Medical-surgery nursing. According with my interest area and after some bibliographic research, the theme “Pain in Nursing care” appears and became the “conducting wire” to every trainings. This report is divided in five parts: the first one is the introduction, after that we have development, conclusion, bibliographic references and appendices. The development is subdivided in three chapters, which one related with a different training subject, and being chronologically organized. In which one it’s presented a review of the specific objectives pointed for each training, whose were the bases of action during the same period, as well as the developed activities. The third part presents a critical discussion as a conclusion, attending the acquisition and development of skills in the speciality area during all the trainings. The report describes the acquisition and training of new skills, used strategies to acquire those and lived experiences during the training. All those moments contributed for my personal enrichment and professional growth.
