Abstract

The present Report is part of the specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, of the master course of Professional Nature held in 2010/2012, in the Instituto de Ciências da Saúde of Universidade Católica of Lisbon. I concluded the Module III (Optional) - Prevention and Control of Hospital Infection, during the period from 27 April to 24 June 2011, followed by Module II – in the Intensive Care, which took place from 26 September to 18 November, 2011 and at last, the Module I – Emergency Service, which occur from 21 November 2011 to 27 January 2012. This report contains a description, analysis and discussion of all steps taken in the several modules listed above and, intends to document the professional and personal development achieved in each context of clinical practice. Intends also, to raise awareness of the targets outlined for each internship module, as well the activities undertaken to develop the necessary and inherent skills of a Specialist Nurse. It was acknowledged an area of health care, which I planned to focus much of the activities and interventions carried out in each course unit - internship. That area concerns the customer security, which I fit as a fundamental component of health care quality. The work developed during the different internships, contributed, to increase and enhance my professional experience, through the development and implementation of a superior competence in the specialty in Medical-Surgical Nursing.
