Childhood obesity is at the present moment a serious public health problem, a silent epidemic, that must be recognized in advance by the severity of its complications related with. A late diagnosis difficults an efficient treatment, adding to cultural factors, the existence of improper food habits, and an inadequate life. So, we can completely justify the intervention of health professionals in promoting the adoption of healthy lifestyles. The behaviours change requires a multisectorial and multidisciplinary interconnection to implement strategies for health education. In this matter, it fits the role of the Specialist Nurse who integrates in any of the contexts of practice as a privileged place, with the child/family target of care to be provided. In this sence, we intended to select and invest in a relevant and present subject, that we can employ to several contents, allowing a link between knowledge and experiences. Therefore, we centralized the developed work, skills acquisition and consolidation of knowledge, to obtain the prevention of childhood obesity, sending all towards to the role performed by the expert nurse as health promoter, in the different contents of the professional practice, conclusive to arrive to the top of a practice, accomplishing a thoughtful and expert Advanced Nursing. The methodology used in the planned objetives, activities, lived experiences and skills acquired is descriptive and reflexive, founded with the support and resource bibliography based on scientific evidence, supported by a systematic review of the literature and acquired knowledge taken from the professional practice. So, in the different steps of apprenticeship, it is intended to meet the needs found at each site, showing all the work done based on observation and informal meetings with health professionals, within the health promotion evidenced by Nola Pender. Related whith this subject, it stands out the development of the following activities promoting health gains, identifying, explaining and sensitizing: under Primary Health Care framework and also in Neonatology, the implementation of healthy eating habits strategies; in Pediatric Emergency Room, the development of a sectorial procedure which aims the linkage/referral of the clients with overweight/childhood obesity from the same endocrinology consultation’s hospital.
