Abstract

This traineeship report is part of the 2nd year of the Masters in Family Psychology taught by the Catholic University of Braga - Faculty of Philosophy. The traineeship occurred in two different contexts, namely in the “Home for Children and Youth Mary Immaculate” in Braga, and the “Temporary Shelter Paula Azevedo” in Cristelo-Barcelos. In the first institution, the residency was carried out during a 3 month period and the second lasted seven months. The traineeship constitutes a form of learning essential to prepare professionals for the challenges of the profession. It helped acquire experience based on theoretical knowledge obtained throughout the course, reflection on practice and learning, achieved in touch with reality and the ethical training required to practice the profession as a future family psychologist. This report is divided into three parts. The first is aimed at presenting the characterization of the place of the traineeship and obtaining information about its respective needs. The second part exposes the activities carried out within the framework of the Master Internship of Family Psychology and a critical reflection about them. The third and last part refers to the conclusion of the report and expresses the ultimate reflection of an entire internship experience complemented with a clarification of the reasons for the interruption at the “Home for Children and Youth” in Braga and deprivation of the realization of the Single Intervention at the“Temporary Shelter Paula Azevedo”.
