"A way of seeing and treating mental illness has evolved over time, since the exclusion and incarceration to the community approach " (FAZENDA, 2006:8). It has been observed that in recent times, the model of mental health care, changed the institutional focus of the person with mental illness to one focused on community care. The community approach emphasizes the importance of psychosocial rehabilitation. The result of the completion of the internship modules was previously planned and presented as thread psychosocial rehabilitation. All interventions implemented during the stage show peculiarities and distinct foci of activity , however the common goal is to cross : we sought to enhance the route of psychosocial rehabilitation of persons with mental illness through the acquisition of new skills that promoted their autonomy. With the program of cognitive stimulation we were able to achieve an improvement in all the functions exercised. Training programs through self-care and hygiene get up and training of effective management and use of the money we observed a significant increase in the acquisition and improvement of skills and consequently the autonomy of users. With the nursing consultation was managed to organize and plan an intervention aimed at individuality, potentiality and expectation of every person to improve the care provided, and the same was found in providing skilled nursing care in mental health support within home and personal monitoring conducted every person in their family context. Throughout this process the work of the Nurse Specialist in Mental Health and Psychiatry become vital since people who need health care in this area when gain in health care by specialist nurses in this specialty.
