This report appears on the extent of the Curricular Unit Final Internship and Report, of the Master’s Degree with Specialization in Child Health and Paediatrics Nursing by the Institute of Health Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Oporto. It shows the learning process throughout the internship, where skills were developed and attained for the specialized care required by specialized nurses. The internship took place in different contexts, contemplating the area of the Internship of Pediatrics and Primary Health Care (Family Health Unit and Community Care Unit), with the duration of 750 hours of work, of which 360 hours were in practice context and 390 hours of individual study. Based on intended general goals in the study programme of the course and the assembly of specialized nurse skills among different areas (care provision, healthcare management, training and research in nursing), I have defined precise goals that have outlined the planning and the achievement of activities, as well as the mobilization of the acquired knowledge throughout my personal and professional journey. During the specialized assistance in different frameworks, care was provided to newborns/children/youth people and families. The main attention areas were transition to parenting, partnership care and pain control in children, aimed to health promotion, disease prevention, and promoting child development and adaptative capacity in health and disease. The recurred methodology is descriptive and critical-reflexive, based upon bibliographical research. The contact with such different realities, allowed me to reflect on and about my practice as a health professional and human being, and adapt the acquired knowledge, which has allowed the acquisition of knowledge, skills and inherent competences of specialized nursing care in Infantile and Pediatric Health.
