Our learning process, geared to the acquisition of expertise in Nursing Pediatrics and Child Health, held in different care contexts: emergencies, acute illness, chronic disease and neonatology unit of the Centro Hospitalar Tâmega and Sousa. During the specialized assistance we draw specific objectives and develop various activities. We believe that the Nurse Specialist Child Health and Pediatrics , is a professional keeper of updated scientific knowledge , technical , communication and relationship help, that tries to do the best you Know and can in the course of child care skills will and his family . However , we feel that there is still a long way to go for a more humanized care the child is hospitalized family that goes through : improving care and preparation of the child and his family to the disease process and hospitalization , resorting to the use ludic, pedagogical material, so that through play , representation , or storytelling , it is possible to minimize stress factors resulting from hospitalization, increase the use of non pharmacological measures to reduce feelings of pain and discomfort , which accentuate the fear and fear of hospitalization, improve the teaching of parenting skills , developing and improving communication between health professionals , services and between the different levels of care , so that you can establish partnerships and continuity of care will assist the child and his family to ensure the quality of care and prevent hospital readmissions . We believe that nurses are the fundamental piece, within the health team able to implement these changes, being necessary one constant awareness and critical reflection of their practices
