Abstract

This report comes in the context of Course Report the Master's Degree in Nursing specialization in Nurse Specialized in Child Health and Pediatrics in the Institute of Health Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University. Presented as objectives are reporting the conduct along the Internship as well as describing and reflecting on the specific goals that were on its origin, the activities undertaken to achieve these goals and the developed and acquired skills that integrate nurse specialized in child health and pediatrics. It is thus the culmination of an academic career. It focuses on the level of a subject area, Child Abuse, and reflects the development of skills in the specialty area of child health and pediatrics, according to the powers envisaged by the Nursing Order. It is also based on constructive theoretical contributions for the practice in Neuman Betty and Casey Anne. The Internship aimed to: Develop specific and differentiated skills of a Nurse Specialist in Child Health and Pediatrics in providing nursing care to children, youth and families by maximizing their health, with a particular focus on children and youth abuse. The main activities were: the School Health: Sex Education, Promoting Parental Skills, through the construction of tools that facilitate the practice as well as enhancing the quality of nursing care, the care and training for nurses and Redesign and Upgrade standards. Each activity performed brought obvious contributions to children, youth and families, by maximizing their health, to the nursing staff and for me, through the development of essential skills for the practice as a Nurse Specialist in Child Health and Pediatrics.
