Abstract

This report is a prerequisite for the evaluation of the curricular unit Report, included in the Master Course in Nursing with Specialization in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing Study Plan of the Institute of Health Sciences of Catholic University. It is the result of the activity carried out in the internship carried out from May 2 to November 5, 2016. This internship involves the realization of three modules: Module I of Child Health, Module II of Medical Services / Surgery in contexts of Acute and chronic illness, and Module III of Pediatric Emergency and Neonatology Services. Module I of Child Health was carried out in a Personalized Health Care Unit, in the Gaia area, in articulation with the Reference Community Care Unit, Module III that contemplates Emergency and Neonatal Services was carried out in an Emergency Department and in a Neonatology service in Oporto. At the stage of Module II, I obtained credit, for having professional experience in the area of medical and surgical services, in accordance with the general regulations of the aforementioned course. The main objective of this report is to analyze the path taken, the learning and the skills acquired during the course. During this course, attention was focused on the transition to parenthood, care partnership, family as a system and child comfort as an expected result of nursing practice. The methodology used was descriptive and reflective, supported by bibliographical research, as well as the articulation of the knowledge acquired in the academic component and professional experience, in order to sustain the learning developed in the internship.
