Abstract

This report describes what I did in my Internship, my experiences, the work developed, the knowledge obtained and most importantly what changed in myself and on the others including in the promotion of healthy lifestyles, prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation and reintegration of the persons with mental disease. The therapeutic relationship between nurse and patient is the basis for maintaining and/or restoring the health. All interventions realized were based on this concept. As part of the intervention in a crisis situation, it was performed a reflection about personal career in the area of mental health and psychiatry, in order to understand the expertise acquired. In terms of rehabilitation and reintegration into the society, we proceed to a construction and redesign individual rehabilitation plans and it was developed a project which aimed a cognitive stimulation, contributing to psychosocial rehabilitation of patients hospitalized in the Rehabilitation Unit I in Leganés - Madrid. Concerning health promotion, diagnosis and prevention, i worked with homeless patients, performing an assessment of their overall health status and thus indentifying priority areas of intervention. All the action was directed towards education for health and was put in practice on sessions held personally and individually. It was also created a Nursing Consultation Office, in Olaias’s Centro Porta Amiga, open to all population. The activities / interventions performed contributed to self-knowledge, as well as to the understanding of effective therapeutic interventions in promotion and protection of mental health, disease prevention, in treatment and rehabilitation, always aiming at the adequacy of strategies towards the person / patient / family in the resolution of the problems related with mental health.
