Abstract

This internship report comes as part of the Curricular Unit Report, from MESIP of the Institute of Health Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University – Oporto, being held on the Nursing Internship of Pediatrics and Child Health, which is divided in three modules: Module I – Child health; Module II – Unhealthy child/family assistance, in which I got creditation; Module III – Neonatology and Pediatrics Emergency, it was performed in a total of 500 hours. The methodology used in this document is descriptive and critical-reflexive, supported by literature. For the acquisition and development of skills in the specialization area, care to newborns/children/young people and families in different assistance frameworks was provided. The activities performed were in line with the planned goals, as an answer to the listed skills in four areas: Training in Nursing; Care Management; Nursing Research and Providing Care. The learning acquired during the assistance in different frameworks and the inherent knowledge upgrading, allowed me to reach the proposed skills by the Studies Plan Program. Consider and reflect, over this all process, proved to be crucial and essential for the maturation of the reflective, critical and deontological character, which are imperative for a Specialist Nurse.
