The workplace is a privileged setting of intervention with regard to the protection and promotion of the health of employees. The occupational health nurses, intervenes in multiple contexts, with the purpose of training and empowerment of the employees. It should focus its assistance in the promotion, protection of health and well-being of the employees as well as the prevention of accidents and associated pathologies or aggravated by the performance of professional activity, promoting healthy and safe work environments. The cross-sectional study had his focus on employees of the Department of Pathology of the Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho, Empresa Pública Empresarial, aiming to contribute to the prevention and early detection of risk factors as well as encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyles. In this context, we analyzed some health determinants, that affect positively or negatively the health status. It's a team of young labor (55 employees), the average age stands at 42,9 years, lying distributed five professional categories, where the female gender prevails. Concerning the vaccination status, 44 employees have the tetanus vaccine updated and 33 completed the primary vaccination for hepatitis B. Regarding the number of meals they eat per day, the average stood at 4,7 in the number of meals and regarding coffees the average was 2,1 per day. The average hours of sleep per day was at 6,8 hours. More than half of the employees practice physical exercise and 36,53% of the employees declared smoking habits. Presenting body mass index within the normal range, we count 57,44% of the employees, 8,51%, recorded low weight and 34,03% had associated risk of comorbidities. Regarding blood pressure, 36 employees were between the TA Great and TA Normal and 12 belong in the risk categories. The Test Interferon Gamma Release Assays, was negative in 39 and positive in 5 employees. Regarding the assessment of cardiovascular risk in 10 years, according to the rating scale of the Framingham cardiovascular risk, 39 employees were low risk, 1 medium risk and 1 high risk for cardiovascular disease. According to the same scale, we can see that the actual age is higher than the age vascular/cardiac in 19 employees, the actual age is equal to the vascular age/cardiac in 3 employees and the actual age is less than the vascular age/cardiac in 19 employees. This data formed the basis for planning immediate and future interventions to be developed under the Occupational Health Nursing by the Office of Safety and Health at Work for these employees.
