The traineeship that we here reported took place in the Oficina de S. José (OSJ), in Braga. The OSJ is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (PISS) with the valence of Home for Children and Youth (HCY), one of the modalities of institutional care provided by law, bounded for childcare and youth at risk in an age group that goes from 0 to 18 years old. According to the Curricular Traineeship Regulations of the Mastership in Psychology from The Portuguese Catholic University, are considered as general objectives of the traineeship: (a) provide trainees the application of different theoretical approaches to diverse contexts of psychological practice and (b) to promote contact and learning of good practices in order to develop appropriate and autonomous professional skills. In this report, we tried to present the institution that hosted the traineeship by showing its history, the people who currently are part of it and its dynamic and daily life, referring specifically the psychology service and the role of the professional of psychology in this context. We presented the diagnostic needs, from which we established priorities to plan the intervention, and presented the activities developed. We conclude with a reflection on the various aspects of the traineeship experience.
