Abstract

traineeship report is part of the 2nd year of the Master’s in Family Psychology lectured in the Catholic University of Braga – Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, and its main purpose is to present the activities performed within the traineeship. The traineeship took place, from October 2014 until November 2015, in the Lar de Infância e Juventude Oficina de S. José (LIJ OSJ – Childhood and Youth Home Oficina de S. José). This Childhood and Youth Home’s main purpose is to take in children and youth deprived of family care environment, giving them a proper environment to an overall education based on moral and Christian standards and the possibility to get skills, opportunities and resources to face future challenges. Overall, our main objectives were to provide the reinforcement of the theoretical approach of the Master’s in Family Psychology, based on the relational, systemic and symbolic model of the Childhood and Youth Home Oficina de S. José, and to develop appropriate and autonomous professional skills. This report is divided into 6 parts: the characterization of the LIJ OSJ, the psychologist role under these circumstances, the evaluation of the necessities, the plans of action, observations, evaluations and the one-to-one monitoring, the other activities and the conclusion and reflection of the acquired experience.
