This report is part of the Curricular Unit “Estágio e Relatório final”, of the 16th Master's Degree Course in Nursing with Specialization in Children and Pediatric Nursing, at the Nursing School of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Porto. The main aim of this report is to demonstrate the development of the competences required to obtain the master’s degree in nursing with Specialization in Children and Pediatric Health. This document starts by describing previously acquired skills and the internship contexts. The internship contexts that enabled this professional development were: Primary Health Care, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Emergency Department. The core content of this document highlights the different competences grouped by domain. Specific objectives were outlined for each domain and a critical-reflective analysis of their interconnection with the activities carried out, showed how the expected competences were acquired. This report highlights the management role of the specialist nurse in areas such as: care management, human and material resource management, promotion and dissemination of scientific knowledge, professional development of their peers and their own development. Some aspects inherent to specialized care in child and pediatric health nursing are developed with special emphasis, such as: communication, pain management, care partnership, promotion of parenting, child and family care, among others. Completing this training process allowed me to reflect on the implications for professional practice.
