Abstract

Adolescence, as a period of dramatic changes brings with it a serie of behaviors that
often expose them to a large number of risks, including substance use.
The use of substances, which represents a social phenomenon taking serious concern in
our country, especially in school aged children, was the area suggested by the experts
advisors, to be the subject of our stage of specialization in Community Nursing
developed at UCC of Leca da Palmeira.
In order to meet the needs identified by the health diagnostic prepared at Escola EB 2 /
3 of Perafita, in the first stage module, appears the Community Intervention Project
"The Young and the (in) dependencies.
The project developed covers four focus of attention, Use of Alcohol, Use of Tobacco,
Use of Drugs: cannabis / hashish and Use of alcohol in the presence of parents, but this
report is focused primarily on the Use of alcohol in the presence of parents.
Focusing on this focus, were planned, executed and evaluated multiple interventions in
order to promote awareness of parents about the harm of alcohol use by young people.
With the completion of this stage, it became clear that the complexity of the needs of a
educational community determines that the nurse specialized in Community Nursing
has knowledge, competence and specific skills that will enable to provide effective
