This final internship report, prepared within the scope of the Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Specialization in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing at the Nursing School of Porto, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, synthesizes the training path developed in the curricular unit Final Internship and Report, carried out in both hospital and community settings. As a specialist nurse in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing with consolidated experience in extra-hospital environments, the internship represented an opportunity to deepen advanced competencies, articulating the domains of management, education, research, and care delivery within an integrated, reflective, and evidence-based practice, aiming at the attainment of the Master’s degree. The articulation between the four domains—care delivery, care management, education, and research—enabled a holistic approach to the care of children, young people, and families, where resource management, pain management, communication, care partnership, and support during the transition to parenthood intertwined with educational training to promote qualified and safe autonomy and prevention, enriched by adaptation to highly complex and/or health-promoting contexts. Particularly, research competencies emerged as a central element, distinguishing Master’s-level practice from specialized practice by fostering the critical analysis of scientific evidence and the generation of new knowledge. The overall journey reinforced the ability to address complex issues in multidisciplinary environments, incorporating ethical and social responsibilities, and fostering autonomous learning that positions the Master’s graduate as an agent of innovation.
