Abstract

This report describes the journey of learning developed in Stage inserted into the curriculum of the Master Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing. Held at Port Delegation of the National Institute of Medical Emergency during the period of April 26 to June 23 of the year 2012 and in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital de Braga between October 1 and November 23 of the same year. The work is structured according to the areas of competence of the nurse specialist defended by Ordem dos Enfermeiros and adopt a critical and reflective methodology of trow about the activities that we developed. In order to provide a better understanding of the objectives planned and acquired skills for our personal and professional development. In the field of Professional, Ethics and Legal Responsibility, it deep knowledge about surveillance techniques and intensive work, communication and information systems in nursing. Also systematized in acting skills in disaster situations. In the field of Quality Management, it expand knowledge about conception and monitoring of quality of care, and collaborate on audits. In the field of Care Management, acquired knowledge on care management and monitoring of workload in intensive care units. And finally in the field of Development of Professional Learning, it developed in research knowledge in databases and synthesis. It set out to make the dissemination of knowledge, either as pairs to the population. It acquired and developed certain important skills to acquire other knowledge, which allowed us to bridge the gap between theory and practice in order to develop a critical and reflective mentality. The activities covered the areas of care, management, training and research. In short, the report accompanying our progress in the areas of know-know, know-how and know-being, allowing the acquisition of clinical competence of high differentiation in the area of Medical-Surgical Nursing.
