This report describes the work achieved during the training period of the fifth Master in Nursing with Specialization in Medical Surgical Nursing, occurred between April 26th and February 2nd 2013, divided into three modules, each one with 180 hours. Module I – training at Emergency Department, Module II – training at Intensive Care Service (SMI) and Module III – Option Module – training at Intermediate Care Multipurpose Unit (UCIP). They were all performed at Local Healthcare Unit of Matosinhos (ULSM) – Hospital Pedro Hispano (HPH). It is structured into three areas of competence – Healthcare, Management and Training – adopting the descriptive-analytic method, as well as the reflective-critical regarding the activities carried out, supported in the Training Project and in the portfolios of the three trainings, seeking knowledge in loco but also knowledge based on theoretical and scientific evidence. Motivation along with the willingness of personal and professional growth, the easy integration and increasing autonomy were facilitators of learning, allowing me to acquire skills and competences of Specialist Nursing. At each training period I developed skills and competences, which reflected in the next training periods, as demonstrated by the degree of reflection progressively deeper, as well as at every decision-making I became more assertive, reflective and with high level of responsibility. The all document is accompanied with critical reflection and demonstration of the skill to incorporate knowledge into practice and adapt behaviors towards the differentiated cares and excellence as Specialist Nurse in Medical Surgical Nursing. In short, this report describes and follows my growth and evolution in the areas of know-know, know-do and know-be.
