The present report is a document describing the activities carried out under the Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing. The provision of this report aims to address the need to document learning developed to achieve the goals I outlined at the beginning of this journey. With a critical and reflexive methodology, it describes the activities undertaken in order to develop skills as a nurse specialist in the medical-surgical area. In its organization were used pillars of domains of competence of specialist nurses defined by Order of Nurses, and as structuring elements to achieve the goals through the course plan and my personal ambitions, describing the activities carried out to meet them with reasons and the necessary bibliographic support. The completion of the three modules: Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Pre-hospital allows to be at the center of a huge set of possibilities for new experiences, rich and full of specific care needs of nursing. Through personal reflection and criticism, it interprets the environment around me, carefully evaluates people’s health and establishes priorities and interventions in seconds to be developed for months. The internship as a whole contributed to the provision of nursing care in the best area of expertise and also greater interpersonal relationship with the person as a whole, their family, their environment, their culture and their values. Skills development is achieved with professional practice but also the appreciation of evidence-based practice, clinical supervision, self-development, clinical risk assessment, the suggested improvements and the promotion of professional development of nurses trained in hand hygiene and the monitoring of analgesia, sedation and delirium. Nevertheless also some difficulties were experienced with excessive workload and sometimes a difficult therapeutic relationship in situations of greater complexity.
