Abstract

This document was prepared in the context of the Post-Graduation/Specialization in Infant and Pediatric Health. The outline of this document is to show what was the formative process, and to what extent the various activities throughout the stage, contributed to skill development in four areas of nursing intervention (practical nursing, training, management & research). The issue of parenting and the promotion of
parenting skills was the theme that was crafted and developed both theoretically and practically throughout the traineeship. Actual and perceived important themes, the concept of "promoting parenting skills" refers us to the inherent positive impact of effective parental involvement in the care process focused on the real needs of each child/family; and so, for more humane care and higher quality, in which gains in
autonomy and capacity to manage the parenting role are the ultimate goals of the interventions of the nursing professionals. I hope, therefore, that this document highlights what the Order of Nurses believes to be the difference between a graduated/specialist nurse and a general nurse, i.e. the scientific expertise, technical and human for the provision of skilled nursing care, which involves the development of skills in order to provide care to an advanced level.
