Abstract

The completion of this report occurred under the internship course, which is in the curriculum of the Master's Degree in Nursing with specialization in Nursing Pediatric and Child Health. After the theoretical part, this course continues with a more practical part, operationalized by conducting an internship that integrates experience in three specific contexts of clinical practice, represented by modules of Child Health, Medical and Surgical Services in contexts of acute and chronic illness and Neonatology and Pediatric Emergency Services, each of these modules has a duration of one hundred and eighty contact hours and seventy hours of individual work. Having gathered all the recommended skills of the course and considering the previous skills acquired through work experience, I outlined personal and specific goals, actionable through activities that reflect my professional growth and, consequently, the acquisition and/or improving these skills. Not forgetting the importance of previous experiences, as these formed the basis from which it was possible to evolve, I believe that given the possibility of intervening in family and community contexts, represented undoubtedly to the greatest contribution to my professional development. I highlight the opportunity of developing many differentiated skills as in giving assistance to newborns/children/healthy youths and on educating/instructing on strategies to promote children/ youths to their parents/caregivers, thus promoting an exercise more active and positive of parenting. The richness inherent in the diversity and specificity of the contexts associated with a critical and reflective attitude continued were essential to the achievement of the overall skills that I set. The implementation of theoretical knowledge to clinical practice favored its consolidation; subsequent critical analysis of learning opportunities and professional maturity allowed the construction of a professional identity as a Nurse Specialist in Pediatric and Child Health.
