Abstract

The realization of the Nursing Master´s Degree with Specialization in Medical – Surgical Nursing (person in critical condition) has as main target the acquisition of skills for advanced nursing assistance to adult patient in critical condition. This report is based on the descriptive/reflective method and aims to objectively expose the activities carried out, the themes that were the subject of bibliographic research, reflection on the attitudes taken during the internship period as well as the skills that resulted from this learning process and also to obtain the Nursing Master Degree with Specialization in Medical – Surgical Nursing. The provision of care to critical patient, represented a significant part of the entire journey, where care was provided to the adult patient with one or more organic failures, needs were diagnosed and interventions were implemented, taking into account the patient’s overall vision. In the improving quality area, emphasis is placed on carrying out work on health communication in order to reduce communication gaps in the healthcare transition by promoting a safety culture. The management domain included monitoring the management of care, the dynamics and methodology used and, in the professional learning development domain, focused was paced on translating into practice, through bibliographic research and other acquired knowledge, research results that have helped to substantiate and improve the provision of care, in particular through a literature review about the patient with febrile neutropenia and nursing care for the prevention of septic shock. It is considered that the necessary competencies were developed in order to provide specialized care in the area of Medical - Surgical Nursing, based on the reflected action and the practice based on scientific evidence.
